The current name of the company Sampdoria was taken August 12, 1946, with the definitive merger between Sampierdarenese and
Andrea Doria. The first president was Piero Sanguineti, which was soon replaced by the ambitious entrepreneur
Amedeo Rissotto, and the first coach was the Florentine Joseph Galluzzi. Sampdoria was admitted immediately in Serie A, by virtue of top-class sporting title inherited from its two founders.
In the same month, the new company returned to play on the "historical" football pitch of the Andrea Doria, in the district of Marassi where in the meantime the stadium become Luigi Ferraris.
For the new company, they designed a shirt that combined the colors of both teams: white and blue for the Andrea Doria team, with red and black for the Sampierdarenese team. It came out a unique uniform, certainly the most original of those present in the entire national football scene : a blue shirt
interspersed with two white stripes, one red and one black, with the coat of arms of Genoa (the cross of St. George) in the center.
